It's been a big year for Mt Ruapehu who currently has the highest snow depth in New Zealand. Turoa has 165 centimetres and Whakapapa 205 centimetres and with only a few days till spring, the snow resorts of Mt Ruapehu are geared up for some perfect spring skiing conditions.

At this stage the resorts are scheduled to stay open well into October and if current weather patterns continue with fresh snow and blue skies, the mountain may remain open in November.

It's been a good season for the North Island of New Zealand while the South Island has experienced variable conditions but all resorts are now well covered top to bottom.

Coronet Peak celebrated their 60th birthday this season, the Remarkables opened a bigger and better terrain park designed by Snow Park technologies and Mt Hutt has hosted the Austrian and the US ski team for training.

All resorts expect to remain open for spring with the FIS Snowboard World Cup at Cardrona from August 31 - September 1.
