Many of New Zealand's South Island resorts received a blanket of snow just in time for August.

The South Island of New Zealand has had some healthy dumps of snow in the past week with the Canterbury Region receiving over thirty five centimetres. Most of the Mackenzie club fields are now open with the Canterbury clubfields set to welcome guests from this weekend onwards.
