Iowa Areas Winding Down Winter

By jd on March 15, 2007

This could be the last weekend of skiing for the Iowa areas. Fun Valley has been closed March 12 through the 16th and they may not be open for the St. Patty's Day weekend blasts, they're advising guests to call ahead for info before setting out.

Seven Oaks reports that it's 70 degrees and the 12+ million gallons of snow making water are running down hill. What was snow is rapidly melting or turning to ice. They've called it quits for the year.

Sundown Mountain, outside of Dubuque, closed March 12 through today to conserve snow. They plan to reopen tomorrow from noon to 9 p.m. and will be skiing through the weekend.
