Sierra Nevada (we’re talking the Spanish original here, not the Californian copy!) comes in to its own for full-on vacations in Spring, as its proximity to the Costa Del Sol on Spain’s Mediterranean Coast makes it easy to ski here in the morning and hit the beach in the afternoon.

High winds and stormy weather forced the closure of at least one Spanish ski area Friday as the promise of additional snowfall buoyed hopes for a successful ski weekend.

After a slow start to the winter ski season, Spanish resorts are rebounding. Recent snowfall and creative piste maintenance have kept Spanish areas in the game, and additional storms are forecast.

A fairly big, but particularly chilly winter storm that lashed the Bay Area with high winds and rain moved into the Sierra Nevada overnight and left behind a glistening white present - more than two feet of fresh snow in some lucky places.
