The Cyprus Ski Club, which operates the Mount Olympus ski center, was formed in 1947 by a group of ski enthusiasts consisting of Cypriot and British Nationals as at the time Cyprus was part of the British Empire.

The club, along with the International Ski Federation, the Cyprus Sports Organisation and snowmakers Sufag, installed the first snow making machinery on the 35th Parallel in 2003. There are three computerized movable snow guns, which have been installed on the Dias FIS homologated piste in Troodos.
