New Six-Pack For Pamporovo

By Patrick Thorne on October 26, 2007

Pamporovo will have a new lift next season.

Pamporovo ski area has announced plans to build a new six-seater high-speed detachable chairlift between the ski area and the village of Stoikite, turning this existing village into a ski resort base. The route for the lift has been cleared with trees felled to make way for towers and cables.

It seems unlikely the new lift and runs could be operational for the coming winter. Local media reports say that public consultation and an environmental assessment are yet to be completed. However resort management are optimistic that the lift could be ready, and already have taken delivery of key parts of it from France.

The new lift will be one of the longest built at just under 3km (two miles), and the two new runs about 5km (just over three miles) long.

New Ski Lift from Stoikite

Been skiing Pamps for the past 20 years (skied many resorts in Europe, but still need my Bulgarian fix!) Taking the grandchildren for the first time in February and hope the Rhodopi hospitality hasn't diminished. Stoikite is a stunningly beautiful mountain village - wow, I hope I can find future accommodation there. Hopeful the lift is working to go see.
