Mt Hotham will invest a further AU$3million into snowmaking for the 2008 season, ensuring perfect snow conditions every season. The popular Heavenly Valley will have its own snowmaking system for next season.
Snow guns and tower mounted guns will be installed on Imagine, Milky Way and Snake Gully runs in Heavenly Valley with twenty six hydrant points. Heavenly Valley is the most popular ski and snowboard area of Mt Hotham.
Current snowmaking covers seventeen hectares, and with the new system that will increase to twenty five hectares of snow making terrain. Five hundred thousand cubic litres of snow has been made in the past two years.
Nine million dollars (AU$) has been invested to date by Hotham Alpine Resort over three years. Most has been spent on water recycling and snowmaking improvements and this current investment continues the resort's focus on providing the best snow conditions possible.
The Heavenly Valley Snowmaking project is slated to begin in October 2007 and due for completion in May 2008.
