Canada Olympic Park just opened its new mogul and alpine slalom ski venues to recreational skiers and riders.
You no longer have to be a competitor to use Canada Olympic Park’s world-caliber mogul and slalom hills. The Calgary ski area opened both to recreational skiers Jan. 18. The 27-degree, 200-meter mogul pitch is split with 15-metres of width for the mogul run and the other half providing a steeper, groomed trail for alpine skiers.
“Our Olympic legacy is world-unique…providing access to recreational enthusiasts, giving them the opportunity to play where their Olympic heroes train,” said the Park's Jim Younker. The advanced areas of the resort, which also include ski jumping and freestyle aerials for high-performance athletes only, opened last year when local builders voluntarily trucked in more than 100,000 cubic meters of fill to raise and re-contour the existing ski hill.
