Confessions of a Skier

Thanks OTS (but not Delta)

With thanks to OnTheSnow.com, I got to get one last ski trip in before hanging up the skis.

It was with a sad heart that this was accomplished, especially given the fact that most of my season was spent off the snow due to an injury. But because of this trip to Utah, I was able to finish the season on a high note.

My season has only just begun

I haven't posted too much to OTS recently because I haven't been skiing much. It's all because of a single broken bone...broke while skiing, of course.

Even though this has hampered the amount of time skiing, I still may be far from done-bar this season...

The Duluth/Superior Alpine Club Ski Swap!

Every year in the Duluth, MN & Superior, WI areas (the "Twin Ports," mind you), the Duluth/Superior Alpine Club holds the biggest ski swap in Northern Minnesota & Wisconsin.

Is it winter yet?

It's getting close.

I just got my first issue of Powder, the 2008 Buyer's Guide magazine. Ski porn, the first of the season, has arrived.

The Turn has begun.

The Bohemia Sessions

NOW the season can be over.

After Michigan's Upper Peninsula got pounded with snow in a span of two days (4 feet!), my friends and I managed to break free for some late, late, late season turns. We took the 5+ hour drive up to the U.P. and weren't disappointed.

One last try

I'm taking one more stab at the 2006/2007 season. I'm not going to be able to beat my record of days on the snow (last season was 42), but that's OK, cause this season is going to end with a BANG at Mount Bohemia.

I told you

I told you so.

Seriously, I did. I remember it clear as day. You said "time to retire the skis for the season." I said, "don't give up on the season just yet, there's more snow in it I bet." You scoffed.

Truly amazing

This trip to Utah has been incredible. The snow is terrific, the terrain is great, and the people are just downright awesome. I'd say I could die now, but I want to come back to some epic powder days here first.

I Heart Utah

I'm only one day into my second trip to Utah in as many months, and I'm finding things I like about this place more and more.

Well, my soul must have sold. Because we got snow. And a lot of it (for the Midwest).

13" dumped on Spirit Mountain, my local resort. Although I'm not sure all of it stuck around, what with the 50+ MPH wind gusts that were occurring at the same time. But enough did accumulate to permanently cover up the icy man-made base that had glazed the runs up until this point. Now it's just nice, soft, corduroy to rip on. And even--get this--for a day or two, fresh pow pow. Yes, selling my soul seems to have paid off, finally. Especially considering that my season isn't over yet....
