Almost halfway through the season and things are looking up.
Mount Sunapee had pretty good skiing on 37 of its 65 trails today, Friday Jan. 19.
Snowmakers have been churning it out since the end of the MLK weekend, and have edge to edge cover on open trails.
It does show the characteristics of this season: Still limited terrain, and very firm base on all trails.
Weather was a hodgepodge today, starting out cloudy at the summit, with sun breaking through in the most beautiful way, and snow starting to fall in late morning.
Early cover was great - turns worked, cruising was fabulous, the only limiting factor was flat light inside the clouds on the upper third of the mountain.
The cover on the easier trails stayed soft and fluffy all day; on the steeper trails it tended to get skied off.
Great trip, fun mountain.
