Right in the middle of the Drome department of France, an area well known for its relatively untouched natural beauty, we can find the Vercors and Diois which have nine special mid-mountain resorts. Luckily for these small friendly resorts it’s not the big mountains to which people return but more to the ‘family spirit’ considered by the locals to be so important. For amateur cross-country and alpine skiers, hikers, horse riders and mountain bikers the activities on offer in the Drome allow visitors to make the most of their time amongst family and friends.
STATION DE FONT D'URLE-CHAUD CLAPIER 1250-1700 m
Nestled between a series of ancient forests and an abundant natural wilderness, the resort of Font d'Urle / Chaud Clapier offers pleasant family skiing. In Font d'Urle, children are able to progress safely under the watchful eye of parents never far away. The forests of the Drome act as a defence against extreme weather and allow visitors to perfect their downhill skiing technique on the 16 kilometres of groomed runs.
STATION DU COL DE ROUSSET 1255-1700 m
The Col de Rousset resort is a fun and diverse ski area in an original setting. Nestled in the crossroads between the Alps and the Provence area of France, at the entry to the Vercors Nature Reserve, the variety of skiing on offer makes it a perfect place for the whole family.
NORDIC SKI RESORT OF LENTE 1070 m
The small hamlet of Lente is located in the heart of a beautiful forest which engulfs the whole area. Cross-country skiing, snowshoe trails, walking paths, mountain biking trails and horseback riding are all activities on offer depending on the season.
NORDIC SKI RESORT OF GRAND ECHAILLON 1100 - 1300 m
The Grand Echaillon, located just above the hamlet of Leoncel, is easily accessed by a 30 minute drive from Valence or Romans. The resort offers cross-country skiing, snowshoe trails and in the summer months walking paths, mountain biking trails and recreational space for orienteering.
NORDIC SKI VILLAGE OF VASSIEUX-EN-VERCORS 1100 - 1300 m
The village of Vassieux-en-Vercors, offering an array of great activities, is an ideal setting for a great holiday in winter or in summer.
The village is a great place to practice your cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowshoeing or wandering on the kilometres of pedestrian trails. In the summer, walks and mountain biking trails are the order of the season.
Vassieux-en-Vercors/Sud is one of the principle areas for dog sledding in France.
NORDIC SKI AREA OF THE COL DE CARRI 945 - 1580 m
At only 7 km from La Chappelle en Vercors, capital of the Vercors region, the resort is highly accessible. On offer are cross-country skiing, snowshoe trails and footpaths, dog sledding, trail hiking and cycling trails. In the village: swimming, tennis, golf, horseback riding and caving.

ST MARTIN-EN-VERCORS / ST JULIEN-EN-VERCORS
In Herbouilly, the entrance to the high plateau of the Vercors, you can find the Nordic ski area of the Vercors. On offer is cross-country skiing, walking, mountain biking trails, archery and climbing.
THE JARJATTE SKI RESORT 1150 - 1550 m

Enchanting and majestic, the Vale of Jarjatte (a listed site) houses a wonderful village resort surrounded by the highest peaks of the Drome. The ski slopes in the Jarjatte are made up of fun and varied terrain which are able to delight all skiers from beginner to intermediate.
VALDROME SKI RESORT 1300 - 1730 m
Nestling in the magnificent setting between the mountains of the High Diois thrives a family resort great for a winter getaway. The friendliness and good humour of the locals allows visitors to enjoy the gentle and accessible slopes found in the resort.
