Ah...arrows, I get it. I guess I'll have to find another cool nickname for my snowboard collection. True, true...I waxed my park board this morning after riding Boreal's terrain parks for about 12 hours. Only has a few sessions on it total....but it's on it's way to becoming a beater. lol Just not sure how it's itty-bittyness will work out in the trees on a powder day!!
Rsuminsby- thanks for the reply. People are so funny, I've heard there's at least a little sun during the worst part of winter. Anyway, nothing some good lighting couldn't fix. I guess not everyone would be down to ride under the Borealis like I would! lol
You're going to Whisler next year? Lucky! I definitely hear more good than bad...and you're right, that unsupported lift between the two mountains looks insane!
I'm with snowguy7. Want to see what Alaska has to offer. But I'm a little confused about why there's only, like 2 resorts there. How does that work? Do you have to have a heli? Is there any other accessible terrain by sled or snowcat or anything? I guess the lack of roads might be a problem... Since Colorado's not too far, maybe I'll have to try out Silverton just to see if it's really all that. : )
Holy.... whoa. You are so lucky!! Did I gather from your bio that it's your air force career that takes you to these far off destinations? That is simply amazing. And I thought I was a lucky government worker for being stationed in Tahoe... Stunning pics. How long is the average season for the European Alps resorts?
Hmmm...what's a "quiver"? New word of the day. But before I add it to my vocab, I'll have to research whether it applies to boarders. lol But yes, I think the equipment dilemma applies to riders too. I have a couple boards, and I feel I could get away with another one or two justifiably. I don't answer to a significant other, but if I did, most guys would rather see their girl spend cash on snowboards than clothes anyway, right? lol Sorry, that doesn't really help your situation, does it?
But yeah, anyway, I have a park board; it's a Burton Custom 135, which is shorter, bendier and has almost no edges. Then I have my all-mountain K2 Fling 149, a graceful wood-core cruiser with sharp edges, but it's still a twin-tip for riding switch and hitting jumps. Those two boards are crucial. The next thing on the shopping list would be a beater board for rocks and trees that's shaped somewhere in between the K2 and the little Burton, probably around 140 cm. Then after that, I wouldn't mind having a directional board, maybe like a 153, for going super fast and killin it in the powder. So yeah... four pairs of skis is totally reasonable. LOL But if you're really not riding the old ones, why not upgrade them?? hehe
I don't know what a minor casualty means for you, but as a freestyle boarder, I'd put my mild concussion in that category. =) Must've been Friday the 13th! haha
