road from Pagosa Springs can avalanche closing it, aviod Thanksgiving
Wolf Creek lives up to the slogan, most snow in Colorado. If you love powder this is the place. Terrain is very good though there are few double blacks. The only week to avoid is Thanksgiving when there can be lines as it almost always has more snow early season than anywhere in the west. I've skied here over 100 days and never find bad snow conditions. The road from Pagosa Springs can avalanche if it dumps. This can be avoided by staying on the east side of the pass in South Fork but the options for lodging and food are much less. If in Pagosa and the road closes the hot springs in town is the nicest I've ever visited, anywhere.
