Maybe I hit Wolf Creek on a good day...the quality of the snow was great. They have really nice Intermediate and Advanced terrain though most of the runs are rather short with long Green and Blue runouts. Ticket and food prices are very reasonable, and the place has a very friendly atmosphere.

Trails not marked good enough

So much ungroomed goodness. Yet, enough groomers to satisfy. Been skiing here for about 30yrs. I’ve been to the big, ritzy mountains like Vail and Deer Valley, Keystone and Park City. I’ve been to solid skier’s-skier mountains like Copper Mountain and Crested Butte. But, my favorite place to ski is Wolf Creek. Maybe that’ll change one day. Whatever. Stay old school, stay small. Don’t let Pagosa swallow you up.
No crowds. Great snow. Hike-to terrain.
Less than 2k of vertical.

Definitely a skier’s ski resort
Incredible snow, inexpensive, scenic area
No many accommodations for 20-30 miles.

This is our go to ski area driving from Texas. Easy on the wallet and offers all-mountain terrain. Pagosa Springs has all the VRBO and cabins you need plus a nice downtown area for after ski happy hours. For the “ski-in-ski-out” folks this place is not for you.
Cheap lift tickets and food. Powder days last a long time because there’s not many people skiing here
Walking from parking lot and a few lifts are really flat at the bottom. The runs are short and the best runs take you to a lower lift that connects to the next lift so great runs sometimes follow up with two lifts to get back to the top.

A good family friendly resort for someone on a budget, but doesn't quite offer the size, resort, or vertical drop of other resorts. It does have a solid variety of terrain and some of the most snow in Colorado.
Lots of intermediate terrain and a variety of hike-to bowl, tree terrain, and groomers.
Long drive to the nearest town, small skiable footprint, and a short vertical drop.

Been going to Wolf Creek since the early 1990s. I’ve been to high-dollar places in Colorado and Utah. Wolf Creek is still my favorite place to ski. You can burn groomers for laps on end with no lift lines, or you can hike to chutes, cornices, glades, and bowls. Just love this place so much.
Lots of snow, and it’s usually fresh. Low to no crowds. Awesome hike-to terrain. Affordable. Friendly staff.
Needs more high speed (detachable) lifts.

Wolf Creek breaks you for skiing elsewhere. Few placed get this much snow with this little competition for getting on that powder. Outside of Christmas and Texas Spring Break this mountain is has no lift lines and if you already have a pass or lift ticket you can easily park where you can walk 50 feet to a run and ski down to a lift. Trees are amazingly good here, all over the mountain you have well-spaced trees. The Alberta area is 1000 acres with only a handful of cleared runs. There is a ton of technical terrain here- cliffs, chutes, gullies, couloirs and cornices. The catch is the mountain is benchy. In most of the mountain you have short hits of technical terrain and then mellow benches before you hit the next band of steeps. Part of skiing the mountain effectively is recognizing how to string together the steeps. With the addition of the Elma and Charity Jane lifts in the last decade, the Alberta area is much easier to navigate. Both lifts eliminate what were longer flat cat tracks- Charity Jane eliminates Lagerfest's uphill section and Elma eliminates the need to use Park Avenue as a long flat cat track to return to the main base area. Previous to these lifts, it was harder for new skiers to avoid needing to hike out of certain terrain skier's right of the Alberta lift, so keep this in mind if reading reviews of the mountain more than a few years old. It is now much easier to ski downhill and not have to worry about missing a cat track that would save you a hike.
Tons of snow, amazing trees, little competition for powder
benchy, limited blue cruiser terrain.

Whiteout up top but as soon as we entered the belly of the best it cleared up and the snow was coming down fast enough to cover up your track from the previous run. I felt like a 48 year old little kid. Thank you Wolf Creek
Tap water tasted like the fountain of youth

Love Wolfcreek. Reminds me of growing up skiing at Bogus Basin. Ski patrol have been excellent with our visiting children and beginners struggling to get down the mountain.
Fresh Powder with beautiful sunny days! Can park your car and ski right to the lift in many areas.
Not enough outside trash cans, clocks
