Close to Denver, lots of terrain
Flat, moguls, for skiers
Winter Park was recommended to me by several people, so I was eager to check it out. I should have taken note that all those people were skiers.
The resort is close to Denver, and very large, with lots of terrain, unfortunately all that terrain is pretty much designed for skiers. For boarders, there are lots of flat spots that require bombing, keeping all your speed, and still having to unbuckle and hoof it. The one region that is consistently steep - Mary Jane - is pretty much full of moguls - again for skiers, not boarders. I didn't check out the terrain park, as that is much less important to me than the downhill terrain, which I went all over checking out.
Overall it seems like a pretty decent place, if you are a skier. If you board, I recommend heading elsewhere.
Oh and the pizza place at the Mary Jane base is an excellent place to hang out off the slopes; with good cheap pizza ($2.75/slice!), beer, good music, and a large TV with Wii sports.
