Skied Winter Park-Mary Jane week of March 19-23 for Spring Break. Our group of seven had varying level of skiers and all were accomodated on the slopes. We have been going religiously the past 5 years over Spring Break and this was the least snow. Our first year we had seven feet and last year it snowed every day/night so we had powder skiing.
This year was different. We rented demo skis which seemed to cut into the mountain much better. We definately needed this as the conditions were packed powder and snow pack most of the week. Some mornings were very icy until about 10:30. This did not slow down our group though. We hit the slopes at 9am and caught the last lift at 3:59pm.
The lines were short for Spring Break. I think the longest we stood in line was at Olympia one afternoon when we had to wait15 minutes. Part of that slow down was the lift stopped several times. Otherwise it was ride up, ski down, ski on to the lift. Awesome! On the Jane side we rode the Sunnyside Lift numerous time. It provides the best access to Bluebell, Edelweiss, Columbine, Roundhouse, etc. Again it was ski on ski off. The snow was very fast. Some afternoons it got a little on the slushy side but what can you expect with Spring conditions of 50 degrees in town. I also could not believe how few people were at the Jane base and at Sun Spot at lunch time!
We had a condo in Fraser which was great. We did get out and eat a couple of nights. Hernando's Pizza was great!
It was a great trip and we are already looking forward to next year when we will once again travel across the plains to the snow covered mountains of Colorado.
