I agree that the terrain might be challenging for the beginners, but anyone can taylor their own challenges. Winter Park and Mary Jane have it all.
I believe that if you ski, you ski. After the full day of skiing , it is nice to have a relaxed dinner and crash and get ready for another great day on the mountain. Also, i liked the fact, that you can hide away skiing on the distant slopes of Mary Jane, or stretch in a chair on the top of Mary Jane and not to deal with the crowds at the village.
The best time for skiing was from 9:30 - 2pm. Skip lunch at 12pm and enjoy the nice snow conditions. After 2pm it did get slushy at some parts of the mountain, but the peaks were fine.
