We went to Colorado in December of 2008 and visited Breckenridge, Keystone, and Vail. Without a doubt, Vail is the superior resort. My wife and I boarded the back bowls, and the front side of the mountain. Loved the eagle's nest area as well. There is tons of open areas and plenty of challenging runs. While we were there, we found areas that had 2-3feet of fresh powder to board on. We spent 2 of our 6 days at Vail and wished we'd have spent more - and we didn't see probably 1/3rd of the terrain. Just be prepared to spend A TON of money if you plan to have lunch at one of the mountain top lodges. (I think the bill was near $40 for two of us to have basic soup, sandwich and a soda). We stayed in Breck, where the lodging is much more affordable.
