Most CO resorts Could stay open until late may
However The national Forest Servcice and Wildlife Services Says Otherwise
Everybody here in Colorado hates the rule of having to close early because of the Forest Service. This is due in part to the migration of Elk - This is no lie. This is especially true when u get south of monarch pass into the bottom half of Colorado. Take Wolf Creek for instance - they should never really close until June, However due to their agreement with the National Forest Service and Wildlife Park Services, they have to close on a specific date and timeframe. Maybe, and Maybe there is a week or two of wiggle room. A-Basin and Loveland are really the only 2 resorts not binding by this agreement. Especially A-Basin - hence them being open until July. There are at least 5-10 resorts that could stay open until June most years, however they cannot. The problem most us have is we all know that when winter is sticking around in years like this year, there is no migration whatsoever anyway. As soon as the snowpack starts to melt and winter is FOR SURE OVER - then the migration starts. They start to come out and graze for food. From bear to Elk, to many others.
