Telluride is the absolute best ski resort/ destination town in America. The resort is nearly 2000 acres and skies larger. However the manuverability once in Mountain Village or downtown Telluride is what makes this the best ski resort in America. You don't need to take any buses from parking area to the slopes. Simply park your car, hop on the gondola and ski epic powder from sunrise till sunset. The terrain is magnificently varied for only havin roughly 90 runs and packs such a resounding puch you will be begging for more. Although Telluride has less than 90 runs it has pound for pound as much skiable miles than any other ski are in Colorado. The terrain distribution is the best I have ever seen not only in Colorado but in North America. Snow conditions are always fantastic and extreme/ advanced skiiers will be glad to hear that Tellurides front side features the steepest collective pitch of any North American ski resort. Runs such as The Plunge and Apex are some of the best i have ever seen. Prospect Bowl offers vistas of the largest concentration of 14ers in North American. Overall Telluride have a Swiss feel due to the Box Canyon which encorporates extremely close proximity to some of the most massive mountains anywhere. Telluride is consistently ranked in the top 2 most beautiful ski resorts in North America and it earns that high ranking handily. The combination of the manuverability around Mountain Village and Telluride through the gondola, the expertly envisioned distribution of terrain, beautiful views, and epic snow quality makes Telluride truly one of the best ski resort destinations in the world. The only negative aspect ever associated with this ski town is its isolation. This in my eyes is really a mixed blessing. True it is difficult to get to but once there one is met with virtually no lift lines which is so often a complaint at resorts such as Breckenridge, Vail, Heavenly, etc. This is the one distiguishing factor that always puts Telluride at the very top of my list.
