Wonderful terrain, beautiful setting, lots of sunshine
Not great for beginners/ early advanced
Spent a great week in Jan 2010 at telluride with my famliy. The box canyon seetting is stunning, and southern location meant 2 days of sun, followed by 3 days of powder - perfect. Excellent, altho pricey restaurants in town [ esp loved the Thai place]. SOme cons- Not much to do at night which did not affect me, as was with my family. One thing that I think has not been mentioned- this is an expert mountain. The 'double blues' are really black, and the doible blacks are insane. I am an expert skier- have skied BC, Wyoming, Utah, and all over Colorado, and I would say some of the most challenging Terrain, up there with Jackson Hole/ Whistler. Its a bit of a downside for beginners- my family did not complain, but they seemed to repeat the same few runs every time. The entire 'town side' is all black, and the upper 1/3 of the mtn is all single/double black. So, excellent for experts , but intermediates may be restricted from much of the mtn.
