Height isn't what makes something icy. It's the humidity and snow. Steamboat has dry air and the driest snow in the country that's why it's called champagne powder. Another thing.... Just because it only reaches 10500 doesn't mean anything. Whistler blackcomb only reaches about 9000. It's about the vertical.

Too bad you have only skied the flat parts of Steamboat. Stay in Wally World with the rest of the intermediates. Keeps the steep pitches for the locals!

its not low. its higher than most areas in the western Rockies. definatly not flat you are doing it wrong if you can't find steep terrain here

10k is low. Terrain is flat. Tree skiing is good tho.

It was not at all icy today, groomers were in great shape again today, 9 inch deep untouched lines in the trees off of High Noon and Tomohawk. Even Heavenly Daze held up quite well today. Some of the choppier stuff was a bit funky to ski in the flat light after the sun went away. I ski steamboat every single day, to the tune of 3 million vertical feet a year, I'll give you the honest truth.

oh no! two days of firm snow! whatever shall we do. i hear of this thing called tuning skis perhaps i should try it and ski anyways because skiing is awesome.
