The National Brotherhood of Skiers is celebrating time on the snow in Steamboat, for their 2007 Ski Summit. Over 2,000 African American skiers and riders, representing 77 clubs throughout the United States and United Kingdom are in Ski Town U.S.A. The annual meeting is a fundraiser to support the development of young adult skiers of color to attend ski academies and compete in various skiing competitions. Full Article

Powder is pounding Utah and Colorado. Snowbird has received around a foot and a half of snow with more expected this week. "A 16-inch storm like the one that came through Sunday is both important to help continue building a base and provides the fun powder conditions for which Little Cottonwood Canyon is known," said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. It was a wild wipeout for Aspen's Casey Puckett at this weekend's King of the Mountain Skiing & Snowboarding World Professional Championships at Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico. Puckett had this spectacular crash in the semi-finals of the competition. Steamboat's Brett Buckles took second for the women, surrounded by an international field. Full Article

Denver and the Front Range had to shut down for what some have called the Storm of the Year. It put a halt to holiday travel, especially at Denver International Airport, where travelers could only look at the snow, rather than get to play on it. Full Article

Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation has agreed to be sold for $265 million to Intrawest ULC. The deal is expected to close in March of 2007. Steamboat has been owned by American Skiing Company for the past ten years. Full Article

Phew. Heavy sigh. The snow is back. There was a bit of a lull between storms and a few folks were nervous! But now the ground is again covered in white, with storm after storm in the forecast up until the holidays. Resorts are managing with the help of Mother Nature and snowmaking machines. Full Article

Colorado resorts are delighting over recent snowfalls, which are pushing year-to-date totals up over the 100-inch mark. Wolf Creek leads the way after the most recent storm dumped three feet, letting them open the entire mountain. Aspen had two feet, and two snow days for the local kids. Full Article
