I'm an Easterner that goes skiing out West ounce a year. BC is thus something a bit intimidating for me. I'm in average shape so a chairlit, an experienced guide, reasonable hiking and killer terrain seemed like the perfect mix for me. I gave it a try last February with 3 of my friends and we all had a blast. So much snow and great tree skiing. We opened a trail that hadn't been skied for the past 2 weeks and had some up to our b... For an experienced Westerner, I can understand that Silverton might be disappointing but for someone who doesn't have access to BC at his/her local hill, it's fantastic. Just a little advice to Easterners: unless you're in real good shape, get accustomed to altitude by skiing elsewhere (Durango, Telluride, Wolf Creek) before going to Silverton. Sea level to hiking at over 12,000 feet is pretty brutal.
