powfinder is clearly as ignorant as they come. all this "kindergarten" supervision he's complaining about is truly necessary in the highly unstable san juan snowpack. 100% of silverton mountain is prime avalanche terrain and should be treated with the utmost respect. if this sounds "lame" to you, stay home.
the crew at silverton do the best they can given what they are dealt. "super studs" that can't deal with a groups of flatlanders should either ski it unguided early & late season or just fork out the cash to pay for their own private guided tour.
accept this place for what it is and you won't be dissapointed. its a big mountain with highly variable snow conditions and superb terrain. you will not get a dozen runs a day. you will probably get 4 or 5 and that is more than enough for most folks.
ps - april is unquestionably the best time to go. deepest base of the season, great weather, & unguided options.
pps - apres at the yurt is the bomb
