I have been to Monarch a couple of times. This is one of the more average mountains in Colorado and to be honest I was not that impressed with their lifts or their terrain. This is not a big vert-drop mountain but unlike Cooper its not so small that you can just let the kids run wild.

The access to the expert stuff was dissappointing and some of the better intermeddiate cruisers are a little too short. I would barely put this mountain on par with most Colorado resorts. Overall the times I have visited have left me feeling Monarch was very average.
