Bottom line, the best snow at the best price. It's all natural conditions can't be beat. Mirkwood Basin offers up the extreme terrain and great tree shots to those willing to make the walk. Slow chairs give the chance to breathe and take in the amazing scenery. Small size is a convenience rather than a drawback in this day and age of resort hassles. The staff is happy and takes the time to make it all easy and fun. Apres at the Sidewinder, but keep in mind the drive down to town, Monarch Pass is not for the lighthearted after dark. Salida and BV offer solid accommodation and dining options, while the hot springs in both areas give a chance to soak and soothe.
