Caption: The Interior of Uley’s Cabin : : : : : : : : Hi All and Happy Friday! Today’s shot of the interior of Uley’s Cabin. It’s going to take a little tongue training for me, but I have it on good authority that “Uley’s” is pronounced “ooo-leees.” Even though there’s some interesting regional history of a moonshiner referred to as Uley, I’m gonna guess that most folks are just going to continue to call the restaurant “The Ice Bar” for the foreseeable future. But I like to play it by the book, so I’m going to say that (calling it properly) Uley’s is about ten days away from its forecasted completion date. With mostly interior detail work left to complete, the restaurant continues to appear to be on schedule. Carpenters in “finishing” mode, electricians, and a flooring crew, putting in the kitchen and back-room area linoleum, were busy knocking out it Thursday afternoon. While it’s certainly a construction zone, I thought you’d get a kick out of seeing some of the interior finishes and the size of the place. This shot is looking through the length of the dining seating area, with the fireplace just out of frame to the left. Considering the size of the room and windows, Uley’s should have a relatively intimate feel to it. The expanded kitchen and service areas will be a vast improvement over the old Twister Warming House set-up. : : : : : : : : In other interesting culinary news at the ski area, Crested Butte Mountain Resort will be opening a burrito shop called “Jefe’s Burritos” (that’s going to be pronounced “Hef-ays,” not “Jefays” or “Jeefs”) in Mountaineer Square where the Substation was last season. I’m psyched about this restaurant, as it just might fill a grab-and-go lunch niche (to say nothing of having a quick lunch option just a few steps from my office!) that’s long over due at the ski area. Look for Jefe’s to open by the middle of December . . . I’ll keep you posted. : : : : : : : : Have a really good weekend out there—catch you next week!
