Caption: Snowmaking Blows at Crested Butte Mountain Resort! : : : : : : : : Wednesday morning saw snowmaking running from the base area on up to mid mountain. Snowmaking’s first days were actually last week, before their forecasted November first start. The warm temps we’re seeing this week actually aren’t all that uncommon for this time of year. Things tend to not cool off until later in the month for Crested Butte a lot of years. While Snowmaking can’t run as much as they would probably like to right now, the weather-induced stand-down allows them address any fine tuning the system needs before the colder weather arrives and they turn it up to full capacity. When they’re running at full capacity, the mountain gets white in a hurry. : : : : : : : : Speaking of colder weather, there’s snow and cooler temps in the forecast, starting Sunday—looks good!
