Caption: The Ice Bar Restaurant is Looking Good : : : : : : : : Wednesday’s shot is of the exterior of the Ice Bar restaurant on Tuesday afternoon. With the exception of one small pitch of roof, the outside of the building appears to be pretty much finished. Inside, drywallers are working away as the building’s targeted completion date is just over three weeks out. Construction worker access to the building will get tricky when the snowmaking crew starts blowing snow across the key access road in a couple of weeks. I have a low-voltage punch list that needs to get squared away in the next week and a half, as well. : : : : : : : : It sounds like the restaurant extent of the Ice Bar is going to be known as “Uly’s,” named after a Gunnison Country whiskey runner from way back in the old days. The details and appearance of the building would tie in well with a Uly’s Cabin kind of theme, so I’m curious to learn more. Regardless of the name, the added seating capacity, larger deck and bigger kitchen (to say nothing of everyone’s favorite Ice Bar) will likely continue to make the mid-mountain location a favorite stop for skiers looking for an upscale dining experience on the mountain. : : : : : : : : See you at the Ice Bar this winter!
