Caption: Wrapping up the Week at Crested Butte Mountain Resort : : : : : : : : : : : : Hi All and HAPPY FRIDAY! I’m sooooo ready for the weekend . . . how about you? Just a few more hours and it’s Miller time for this camera-carrying phone guy. : : : : : : : : : : : : After a complete mixed bag of weather on Thursday (sun, snow, wind, rain, repeat), today we’re looking at big blue skies temps that are getting close to cold enough to make snow in. The top of Gold Link is showing 33 degrees, so while it still feels comfortable standing in the sun, if you duck into the shade or getting moving fast, the wind chill becomes a factor. : : : : : : : : : : : : Today’s shot is of the International ski run and the 12,162’ peak of Crested Butte Mountain in the background. The snow guns are lined up along the run, ready to kick out the whiteness in a few weeks. A smile comes across my face when I think about the first day of snowmaking in the base area. The hissing roar from the snow guns always peps me up and has me excited about opening day. Snowmaking’s scheduled to commence on November 1st—it’ll be here before we know it. : : : : : : : : : : : : If you’re in the Gunnison Country this weekend, head on down to Hartman Rocks for some single track . . . temps are forecasted for the high 50’s on Saturday.
