Caption: High Country Whiteness in Paradise Wednesday’s shot is of the whiteness that our early-week weather brought to the Paradise Divide area. This is Treasury Peak with several inches of new snow and looking pretty rugged in the afternoon light. There's probably not enough snow to make turns on in the high country, but a few more storm cycles like this and the local backcountry powder hounds will be getting the itch to head out and see how it skis. Tuesday was a bluebird day in Crested Butte. Temps hovered in the high thirties and low forties for much of the day. While working on the upper mountain, I noticed that it definitely wasn’t fall anymore. There was an inch or two of new snow crunching under foot and the air carried that hard to articulate, but nonetheless certain aroma of cold. It seems a little early for snow and cold, but our summer was apparently destined to be short on both ends. I wonder if winter isn’t planning on coming early, going huge and staying long? If it's going to be winter it might as well be WINTER! Looks like Wednesday is going to be mostly sunny before we see another shot of moisture move in for Thursday. Enjoy your day and (barring further technical difficulties) we’ll do it again tomorrow.
