Caption: Beefing up the Signage at Crested Butte Mountain Resort : : : : : : : : The Crested Butte Mountain Resort Mountain Operations Department has dramatically increased the amount of signage on the mountain this fall. They’ve installed several dozen new sign posts and relocated old signs to more visible locations on our ski runs. Driving and biking around the mountain this fall, the new signage has been quite noticeable. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that you won’t be able to get lost on our mountain, but I would think that from just about anywhere on our groomed terrain, there’ll be a sign in sight. : : : : : : : : Today’s shot is of Mountain Operations Assistant Director, Mark Voegelli, doing a little a . . . well, a little fix it work on the sign at the top of the Paradise Lift. That’s the Headwall with a bit of snow on it in the background. It seems that Peel and Forest had been signed as single black runs, when they are, in fact, double blacks. So those signs had to get swapped out. Somebody on the ground was making heckling comments about how we’re going to groom the Peel now that it’s a single black run . . . probably not. : : : : : : : : Today was a glorious day to be on the mountain and elsewhere in the Crested Butte high country. We enjoyed cloudless skies, temps that made short sleeves mandatory accompanied by calm conditions. I was working near the bottom of the High Lift for much of the day on the resort’s new snow stake cam (more to come on that in the next week or two) and reveled in the pleasant weather. We saw more haze from the wild fires burning in states to the west of us, particularly in the afternoon. Weather forecasters are still showing a mid-week shot of moisture and cooler temps for CB. Looks like things will whiten up a bit by Thursday. : : : : : : : : That’s it for me today . . . stop back by tomorrow and we’ll do it again.
