Caption: Fall View of from the Ski Area : : : : : : : : Friday’s final photo is overlooking Mt. Crested Butte with the Meridian Lake homes, Slate River Valley and Schuykill Ridge in the background. This season’s fall color has been a bit different than what we typically see around Crested Butte. There are large groves of aspen that seem to be hanging on to their greenery quite a bit longer than usual. Other groves and pockets seemed to either skip changing to gold or did so very quickly and jettisoned their leaves before we knew it. I’m not sure if that’s due to the little rain we saw in the late summer or if some other factor is causing the variation. : : : : : : : : Thursday afternoon’s snow squalls warmed to evening rain showers in the Crested Butte area. It looks like the week-long moisture cycle we’ve seen is drying out, leaving us with forecasted sun and warming temps into the weekend. I, for one, am a big fan of nice weekend weather, and fall is a great time for getting out on your favorite two-wheeled toy to enjoy the high country single track.
