Took my 3rd trip to CB over the X-mas holiday and it was great as usual. The layout and challenge of the mountain are on par with Telluride and Taos. Great overall pitch and not a lot of time wasting lifts or poling trails. Very small lines or no lines at all (that would never be the case just about anywhere else on a holiday week). It was extremely cold, as is usually the case, but that just keeps the snow in better shape. The town is the coolest with the shops, restaurants, bars, etc. The guy who said there are no good places to eat is incorrect. Maybe he was looking for an Olive Garden or an Outback or something. You won't find those type of places there which is a very good thing. You will find many good restaurants both in town and on the mountain. I recommend trying Monarch for a change of pace if you're there long enough. I went there for the first time this trip and they had more powder than CB. It's smaller and there is not much in the way of amenities but it is definitely worth spending a day there. We've skied all places in CO and decided if we're ever able to move to the mountains the Gunnison/CB area would be the most likely choice.
