great challenges, uncrowded, friendly people
remote, not much blue and black, odd pattern of lifts
Have you ever been to a place where everything is either a double black or a green? Hard to imagine, but CB fits that description. The double blacks and extremes are out of this world, but if there isn't enough snow to make those slopes skiable, there isn't much else to hold an advanced skier's attention. The locals are quite friendly and seem happy to show you all the great places on the mountain, which is quite useful because there are places that you would never find on your own. On the "con" side, it's not really a day trip destination; also, some of the lifts are very oddly placed -- for example, the highest lift (the one that accesses the Headwall) can only be reached by going all the way back to the bottom of the mountain, which is an unnecessary waste of time. But if you can handle the extreme terrain, it's an experience you will remember for a long time.
