Known as Colorado’s last great ski town, Crested Butte is a great year round mountain destination that offers gorgeous scenery, a rich history and lack of crowds. Crested Butte Mountain Resort has expansive and diverse terrain across more than 1,500 skiable acres and offers terrain suitable for any ability type.
Crested Butte Resort is located in southwest Colorado, within the Gunnison National Forest and the Elk Mountain Range. The resort town of Mt. Crested Butte is about three miles from the historic mining town of Crested Butte.
The airport at Gunnison (GUC) serves Crested Butte with direct flights from Salt Lake City, Dallas and Atlanta offered by American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta. Otherwise, Denver (DIA) receives air service by over 20 national and international carriers with connections into GUC.
It's four hours from DIA when you take I-25 South to Pueblo to Rt. 50 West. Click on www.skicb.com/cbmr/town/driving-directions.aspx for directions from other locations. It's only 30 minutes from GUC to Crested Butte on State Route 135.
Alpine Express (970-641-5074; www.alpineexpressshuttle.com) meets every flight and provides door-to-door shuttle service between GUC and Crested Butte.
You can opt out on a car rental thanks to the free Crested Butte Town Shuttle and Crested Butte Mountain Express. The shuttles run the three miles between the mountain and historic town from many locations. There are also Condo Loop Shuttles departing from the Town Center throughout the day.
