In 1971, Copper Mountain’s founding father Chuck Lewis told his friends, "I'm gonna build me a killer ski resort” at the 280 acre base and so its construction began. In 1976, Copper Mountain hosted the World Cup Races in Slalom and Giant Slalom for both men and women due to low snow at Heavenly Ski Resort. Over the years, Copper Mountain has expanded into 2,465 acres of accessible terrain with 23 chairlifts, and over 140 marked trails for skiers and riders of all ages. Copper Mountain’s terrain is naturally divided with gentle slopes starting on the west, and progressively gets steeper as you travel east, and there are several wide-open bowls for advanced skiers and riders. Copper Mountain is also home to Woodward Camp, a 20,000 square foot indoor ski and snowboard training facility dedicated to terrain park and pipe progression and became an official U.S. Ski Team downhill training facility.
Copper's Central Reservations offers one-stop vacation shopping with discounts on a variety of things offered if booked as part of a lodging package. Ski and snowboard lessons and rentals. Restaurants, child care including Kids' Night Out and in-room. Free ambassador mountain tours. Free Ambassasor snowshoe tours.
