Another good trip to Breck in late January. Our family of 5 advanced/expert skiers found good snow conditions (as usual), but a week's worth of cold and high winds (not usual). Snow cover was a bit thin on some of the more extreme runs, but all the "mainstream" trails had great coverage (but no deep powder this year). First time with my kids to Windows and Snow White - what a blast!
Stayed at Grand Timber Lodge, near Beaver Run. Fabulous resort and excellent location, near downtown and the lifts on Peak 9. The perfect lodge: quiet/private, very comfortable, yet close to everything we need. Lift system has really improved over the years, making it easy to negotiate to the far reaching sections of Breck - good access to the T-bar and Peak 7, as well as Peak 10. We found the staff on the mountain and at the Lodge to be exceptionally helpful and friendly. Even better than previous ski weeks. Also like that there are lots of alternative ski resorts nearby (Keystone, A-Basin, Copper, Loveland).
Can't wait to return here next year; already booked our week for 2009. Hopefully next year we can try the new Peak 6 expansion.
