I spent a few days at Breckenridge in early January. It was an excellent experience. Breckenridge is a big mountain with a lot of variety - wide groomers, lots of bowls above treeline, tree runs, steep stuff, terrain parks. The scenery is amazing. Even though the last snowfall was about 4 days earlier, the conditions were good and we even found some decent powder in the highest bowls. There are lots of high-speed quad lifts to keep you moving around the mountain. When I was there mid-week there were very few people and no lift lines.
The parking situation was kind of annoying - unless you pay big bucks, you have to park way down the hill and take a 10 min gondola ride just to get up to the main base area. Lift tickets are very pricey, like all the Vail resorts.
I don't care about nightlife, luxury hotels, fine dining, or shopping, but the town of Breckenridge has all of that.
