High Speed Lifts, Service, Grooming, no lift lines like vail
Cat tracks, price, little open bowl skiing
I have skied all over the United States and in Canada, and Beaver Creek is one of the classiest resorts I have ever been to. The beginning of the day starts with the free shuttle from Avon, which means you don't have to pay 30 bucks to park but you have to lug your gear with you. They did in a new gondola and lift from Avon which is a nice alternative. The grooming at the start of the day was superb, never skied on such amazing groomers. We never waited in one lift line the entire day, and this was on the weekend when Vail's lines get bad. There was great cruising all over and humongous moguls on Grouse Mountain. Screech Owl killed my legs and there was no cut out so you have to do the whole thing. Larkspur was a nice little open bowl area, but its the only one on the mountain which was a little bit of a bummer. The Arrowhead area was great because there was lots of cruising and some trees but no people. The only bad thing is that you have to take a looooong cat track to get there. Overall the terrain here is not horribly difficult but Grouse Mountain and the Birds of Prey area offer challenges. The employees here were very nice and the ones scattered throughout the village where there to answer every question. One big downside for all this excellent grooming and service is the prices are ridiculous. But overall the mountain is excellent.
