East to get to, luxury lodging, impressive vertical
Avgerage skiing and pupose built village is nothing special
The resort is easy to get to with Eagle Airport only 30 minutes away and Denver about 2 hrs (both easy drives). There is also an abundance of luxury lodging (hotels and condos) that will satisfy those looking for high end accomodations. It is also a big mountain with impressive vertical.
People looking for no hassle transportation and a nice place to stay will like Beaver Creek but those looking for a unique vacation spot will be disappointed. Beaver Creek is a modern purpose built village and lacks the charm of a real town like Aspen, Telluride, Sun Valley, etc.
I was surprised to find so many slow lifts (Rose Bowl Area) and very little good on-mountain dining at a resort that markets itself as a luxury destination.
With respect to the skiing - it is ok and steeper than I remember. The Grouse Mountain Area has a lot of good mogul runs. But comparable or better skiing can be found in places with much more charm.
In summary, it is a convenient ski resort (I don't minimize the importance of this to families) but there are many more interesting places to go.
