After a dry early season, most of Spain's resorts have seen increasingly heavy snow through March, three months later than hoped! Temperatures are currently low - typically -10C at the tops of the ski areas and the latest falls have taken upper slope snow depths at some Spanish Pyrenean resorts past a metre (40 inches). Heavy snow is finally falling in Spain, the ski nation which has probably suffered the most from Europe's warm 06/07 winter. Whilst the Alps started to receive increasingly heavy snowfalls soon after Christmas and even peripheral ski areas, such as the island of Cyprus in the southern Mediterranean close to Israel and Lebanon reported 20 inch snow depths by the end of February, most ski areas in Spain had had little or no natural snowfall until now.
