Canillio is quite an odd ski resort as it wasn't really one, as far as I could tell, until a few years ago when a gondola was created to link the village to Soldeu's ski area and its now part of Grand Valira.
Although there are some resort facilities like bars and restaurants, it seems to be used a lot by people driving up from Spain, or the nearby capital of Andorrta La vwella, to access Grandvalira without having to drive right up to El Tarter - especially handy when the roads are busty as they often are, there's being so little space to move in Andorra until you're up on the mountains.
So it is quite a good place to stay for fast access up to the big Gransd Valira ski area and indeed a fiove minute hop to La vella for the vast shopping experience. Canillo does have an ice rink and swimming pool - it was kind of developped as a non-ski leisure centre like that before the lifts arrived.
