I've been to snow summit about 12 times. Its a good ski resort to go to if you are still learning, and mainly ride on green or the easiest blue runs. If you mainly ride blue or black runs, you will find the mountain boring and unchallenging. Weekends can be very crowded, but if you stick to the upper lifts or side lifts that don't feed into the base area, you won't experience too much of a wait. Most weekend visitors are in various stages of learning how to ski/snowboard, so that means people with lack of control, people resting right smack in the middle of the runs, lots of teenagers, etc. Once visitors get good enough, they never return to snow summit and go to Mammoth or out-of-state resorts instead. Nice town, with lots of restaurants, bars and shopping. Beautiful surrounding pine covered hills and beautiful Big Bear Lake offer a nice scenic backdrop when you're skiing. Plenty of lodging to choose from, from Motel 6 to 4-star lodging. Bottom line: go if you are beginner-intermediate, don't go if you are a full-fledged intermediate or above.
