Great pow in some spots. Short lift lines, quite a bit open but the only black is moguls and then traverses and not snowboarding friendly. But lots of trees open, you can make your own paths, a few obstacles. Was very pleased with our day.

Sugar Bowl is privately owned and No. Not all the resorts are on national forest land. State land and BLM land as well.

every resort in tahoe is on national forest land, they operate under a lease. each resort is free to set their own opening and closing dates, and snowmaking. Sierra has some snowmaking, just not a lot.
