I love this mountain. I know a lot of people have complained about parking capacity but frankly, you should just plan on being there no later than 830. I have never been turned away. Most other resorts utilize a reservation system, but for people like me who like last minute "let go" adventures, I'm all for the first come first serve. With that said, I have a Season pass, so I'm not real concerned about buying a ticket and not getting in. This place is my home base. Close to Sacramento (my home), and I have went entire seasons without needing chains. Home.
No resort frills, just great snowboarding

I am very disappointed in not being able to use a lift ticket I purchased on-line for a different day then what it was purchased for. The day in question has snow in the forecast, for all day. Due to the Covid guidelines Sierra does not allow people to go inside to sit out the storm... that is unacceptable - what happened to 6 feet apart & wearing masks? I would gladly do that. Anyway, the women on the phone said that you can just sit in your car! How rude is that! I do not recommend ever going to Sierra since they are so inflexible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most other ski resorts have "exchange policies" - why don't they!
No Exchange Policy - how terrible is that?

To Whom It May Concern: As a lifelong skier at Tahoe resorts, I was terribly disappointed in my first trip to Sierra-At-Tahoe yesterday, 2/6/21. After driving 3+ hours from the Bay Area with my two kids and arriving at your resort (at 9:00am), I was told that your parking lot was full, there were no overflow shuttles, and no walk-ins allowed. The "security guards" were abrasive and rude. They didn't take any questions, and simply forced us to continue up Hwy 50. It was only when I parked further up the road and walked over to them that I got any information at all. They simply said that we could try to return at 1pm to see if parking lots were empty by then :( I felt cheated and gypped by the whole notion that I had spent $270 to buy online tickets that were being invalidated because of a lack of parking! I happen to be a middle school math teacher. It is not rocket science to figure out how many parking spots are available and how many ticket purchases have been made for any given day(!?) I can't believe that someone in your corporation doesn't have the problem-solving skills of a 7th grader. I'm more apt to believe that you purposefully oversell the number of tickets that you can actually accommodate for. Shame on you!! There is no other venue that does that. If you buy a ticket to the Super Bowl and arrive in the 2nd quarter, the stadium does not have the right to sell your seat to someone else. At any rate, we did end up returning at 1pm to ski for 2.5 hours. The snow was great, and the mountain was fun for my kids. Unfortunately, though, we won't ever be returning because I just can't take a chance on being turned around again and wasting my very hard-earned money. Dispiritedly,

This would have been a decent resort with OK prices and few solid runs, but they mismanage it completely by selling tickets way over their capacity. Unless you are at the mountain before 8:30 your car gonna get turned back and your day is gonna be completely ruined. And yes - no refunds. In a good day at 8:00 parking lot would be already almost full and there are no options for backup parking. Avoid, there are many options in Tahoe area that are much better.
Very good riding at the west bowl, good riding at the backside when its open
Unless you come at 8am or early Sierra-at-Tahoe will completely ruin your day
Disappointed Patron
I've been a sierra patron since 2002. It's always been a great experience in the past. I learned how to ski and snowboard on this mountain along with progress in both over the years. Unfortunately, there now seems to be a change of heart within overhead. New marketing management has become very money hungry and changed the accommodating style which I dearly miss. I've ran into some dire issues with the season pass office that have not existed up until this point. The staff, and boots on the ground are still above standard, but the problem is the new management. Imagine spending hundreds of dollars on a product and not being able to obtain or utilize what you've paid for. That's basically been my experience with Sierra for the 2019/2020 season. I bought a 3 pack this season knowing I wouldn't be able to get much riding in. Back in December 2019 I decided I wanted to upgrade to a season pass. I was told I could pro-rate the unused 3 tickets to a limited pass for an extra 80 dollars. I agreed to upgrade by January 2020. "No problem, give us a call and we'll take care of it for ya." So I call in January, only to be told that is no longer an option. I am told pass prices went up and the limited pass is no longer available. So instead of an extra 80 dollars, it's another 200+ on top of the 300 that I've already spent. I could go on with this story for another 6 paragraphs about how poorly mgmt handled this and how my story ends for the season, but to put it briefly, sierra no longer takes care of their own.
Great terrain when they have snow.

Varied terrain, long runs, high-speed quad lifts, great snow, manageable crowds and lift lines, mid-week I have skied as much as 52k feet of vertical elevation. Skied 21 days there in 2019.
Great high-speed quad lifts with nice runs

Absolutely amazed by Goldilocks, breezer, and heather! Their work on easy rider during the storm when the other lifts were down was incredible and they deserve raises!! So many people were unbelievably rude to them and other riders I don’t know how they didn’t get in a fight or twelve
Employees are amazing!!
Too many Bay Area tourons

I live 35-40 minutes from Sierra so I ski their 30+ days a season, its a great mountain as long as theirs fresh powder because then the tree skiing comes into play, if it hasn't snowed in a while its gets pretty boring real fast, also it can get real dangerous at times because of the large amount of beginners that go their because its the closes resort to the valley, and as they get more confident they tend to spread out onto areas that they shoudnt be in, keeping you on your toes looking out for them. Staff is always great and friendly, but a common theme lately is on big snow days they choose not to turn the upper lifts, leaving very little terrain open.
Tree skiing
on storm days they tend not to run the lifts anymore

I love the people that work in the BBQ place up at the top. They 're very nice and the food is the best I have ever had at a ski resort. I have gotten the BB sandwich with the onion rings on top and it is great. I especially like the slippers available and a place to hang your boots out while you walk in slippers and enjoy their fabulous lunch.
slippers in the upper BBQ restaurant
