Mt. Baldy captures the old-school ski experience. The lifts are old and there's nothing in the way of après ski. However, unlike the other SoCal resorts, there's real terrain and the people are courteous. You go here to ski, not to socialize, drink, smoke (!), etc. With $30 discount lift tickets available and the shortest drive from LA/OC, it's really an underrated gem. You just have to make sure you check the weather report first.
