First of all, you really have to have realistic expectations when visiting one of the closest resorts to Los Angeles: snow conditions will NOT be ideal and it will DEFINITELY be crowded on the weekends.
Having said that, I have been going to Mt High for about 10 years now and the resort seems to improve year after year. Given, they are now favoring the snowboarders (which i am) as with most other resorts. "Landscaping" has improved to give riders better mountain views and the runs seems to cater to a wide range of riders too. Personally, I like East since I am not a big park rider. With some decent coverage, the East resort can really be a gem with long runs and less crowds on it. Love going down the runs to enjoy the ride and get on the mountain.
The West typically is VERY crowded compared to the East. However, there are quite a bit of features that will definitely encourage riders to try more than carve down the mountain. They have a wide range of difficulty when it comes to rails and jumps, which is pretty cool with so many bigger resorts only offering "pro features." This was the park that I would try different jumps and rails to hone my skills (ha ha). I remember the crazy 04 year with so much snow, i didnt need to travel further away. Definitely can be one of the most convenient resorts around.
Again, i cannot stress enough you have to be realistic when it comes to visiting this resort. Yes, it will be crowded and icy. Of course it will be: it's Southern California!!! Other than that, I am a frequent visitor to this resort going on average of about 5 to 10 visits per year. Definitely recommend to anyone AROUND LA to visit and get some runs in.
