No mountain driving, close proximity
Snow quality, unfriendly employees
Made the three hour drive up from the south bay Friday night (traffic was bad, but trip home at 10:00 took just under two hours. No crowd at all with three lifts running for the 5:00-10:00 session. Low coverage that changed from mashed potatoes when the temps were low 50s to granulated sugar when it dropped to the 40s. Mostly rookie snowboarders scraping the snow down to clear ice in some sections. You have the steeper blues all to yourself. Some of the smaller narrow runs were scraped down to dirt and rock which provided a nice sparks show at night for the slide slipping snowboarders that thought it was a good idea to explore those runs. Mountain high lost power for a few minutes later in the night which blacked out the resort for around 20 minutes. They got it back up pretty quickly. If you want to get some turns in for cheap and without crowds, check out the night session. Otherwise, seek better snow elsewhere.
